ANGUS GARDNER SAYS:
Sitting Duck.
"When you picture a duck in your head, you’re probably picturing a Mallard. They are one of our most common ducks. They are also one of our most beautiful, the males in particular with their iridescent plumage and unmistakable markings.
It’s an anomaly to me that we can see the beauty in these creatures to the point where we adorn our homes with their images (who can remember those ubiquitous three flying mallard duck plaques, usually hung on kitsch flowery wallpaper in our living rooms in the late 70s?) yet we also shoot these defenceless, terrified creatures out of the sky for ‘fun’.
It’s not even as if they are a challenging target, it’s where the phrase ‘sitting duck’ comes from, meaning ‘easy to hit’. Well here’s my take on a sitting duck"
