Collection: Alexander Millar

Alexander Millar - Original Paintings and Limited Edition Prints:-

Some artists create paintings. Others create characters and stories that people want to take home with them.

Alexander Millar does both.

Our relationship with Alex began 25 years ago, when we first discovered his work as collectors ourselves. We immediately connected with his distinctive characters — his much-loved “gadgies” — and their ability to capture everyday life with humour, warmth and personality.

One of our favourite memories from those early days is of our son, then just six years old, sitting on the floor of the gallery copying one of Alex’s gadgies. He is now 30, but that little moment has stayed with us — a perfect example of how Alex’s artwork can capture the imagination and become part of family memories.

That emotional connection is at the heart of why Alexander Millar’s work continues to appeal so strongly to collectors.

His paintings are instantly recognisable, but they are never simply decorative. His characters have personality. They tell stories. They evoke memories of family, friendship, working life and those familiar moments that make us smile.

And that is why an Alexander Millar painting can feel so personal.

You may recognise someone you know in one of his characters. You may see your dad, your grandad, an old friend — or perhaps a little bit of yourself. His work has a remarkable ability to turn a familiar face or everyday scene into something collectors want to live with and enjoy for years to come.

Having known Alex and his work for so long, we understand what makes his paintings so special. We have watched his career grow, seen his collector following develop and, most importantly, experienced first-hand the genuine connection people have with his art.

For new collectors, Alexander Millar offers something particularly special: art with character, humour and a story behind it.

And for existing collectors, there is always another character, another moment and another story waiting to join the collection.

At The Acorn Gallery, we are proud to represent Alexander Millar and to continue introducing his work to collectors — just as we first discovered it ourselves all those years ago.

Come and discover the world of Alexander Millar. You might even recognise someone you know.
