Some of the best stories begin with an unexpected knock on the door. Ours with Danny Abrahams began in 2012, when he walked into The Acorn Gallery carrying an armful of paintings and a rather wonderful question: "Do you think I'm any good?"

His family had assured him that he was, but Danny wasn't entirely convinced. After all, they're family! He wanted an honest, unbiased opinion, and that's exactly what he came looking for.

Well, we didn't need asking twice! We immediately fell in love with his charming, naïve landscapes, quirky little characters and the wonderful sense of warmth and nostalgia that seemed to flow from every painting. There was something very special about Danny's work, and we knew it from the moment we saw it.

Within the first week, we'd sold every single painting he'd left with us!

A rather surprised and wonderfully humble Danny returned with more, and so began a friendship and working relationship that continues to this day. We're incredibly proud that The Acorn Gallery, Pocklington, is Danny Abrahams' longest-serving gallery, having represented his work since those very first days in 2012.

Over the years, Danny has become one of Yorkshire's most loved artists, capturing hearts with his beautifully atmospheric landscapes and touching stories of family, friendship, childhood and love.

His original paintings are highly sought after, with each one telling its own little story. And there's something rather lovely about the fact that Danny's work rarely hangs alone! Many collectors find themselves returning for a second, third or even fourth piece, creating their own collection of memories and magical moments.

Perhaps the greatest charm of Danny's paintings is their ability to transport us somewhere else. To a simpler time, when adventures were waiting just beyond the garden gate, friendships lasted forever and the smallest moments could become the biggest memories.

Whether it's a couple wandering beneath a moonlit sky, children playing in the snow or a quiet moment watching the sunset, his paintings offer a wonderful sense of peace, comfort and gentle escapism.

Danny describes himself as a "try-it-and-see" artist, but we think there's a little more magic to it than that!

As Danny himself says:

"I'm from a generation of kids who 'played out' in a time of innocence, where our days were filled with fun and adventure. Use your imagination and step into my world, where summer holidays last forever and snow falls so deep that it goes over the top of your wellies. Never stop dreaming!"

And perhaps that's exactly why we love his work so much. Danny reminds us that, however old we become, there's always room for a little imagination, a little nostalgia and a lot of dreaming.
