Having an art degree, graduated with honours, doesn't mean you have to be stoic and paint the ordinary. In fact, Scottish artist Marie Louise Wrightson loves painting the extra-ordinary!

Marie's love of classic childrens stories is huge but her first love has always been 'Alice in Wonderland' and 'Alice Through the Looking Glass’ by the wonderful Lewis Carroll.

The fantastic worlds of Marvel and DC also capture Marie's imagination and you'll often see these well known faces pop up in paintings and brilliant limited edition prints.

One of Marie's greatest loved collection is cake, cake anywhere! Cake on plates, cake on hats, cake anywhere! Her love of afternoon tea has brought forth some scrumptious paintings and we look forward to more at her annual autumn show here at The Acorn Gallery.
