Collection: Mackenzie Thorpe - Prints and Originals

Mackenzie Thorpe Artist At The Acorn Gallery, PocklingtonArtist: Mackenzie Thorpe - Original Pastels and Limited Edition Prints:-

Middlesbrough born artist Mackenzie Thorpe is the Official Artist for the 2019 Tour de Yorkshire and he has created a stunning collection of work which celebrates not only the part that bicycles play in childhood and family life but which also celebrates this mighty peloton as it turns the focus of the world onto our beautiful county.

As a child Mackenzie grew up as part of a large working class family and his obvious talent for drawing was recognised from childhood. His memories of being 'The Boy Without a Bike' and 'Riding with Grandad' are strong in his work.

The need to earn a living overtook his love of painting and his working life started, as many before him, in the ship-building industry before taking a positive step to follow his love of art.

In 1989 Mackenzie moved his family to the castle town of Richmond in North Yorkshire where he opened his first gallery although now his children are grown and Mackenzie now lives and works in Brighton.
