TIM SHORTEN
'Between Sirens and Saxophones'
1940's ART EXHIBITION and MEET THE ARTIST

We are delighted to announce a personal appearance by the very talented Tim Shorten who will be appearing here at The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington this Spring with his latest collection titled 'Between Sirens and Saxophones'.
Tim Shorten is an artist with a rare feel for the mood and music of the 1940s. His paintings don’t just depict the era - they allow us to inhabit it. In his world, the glow of a club doorway spills onto rain-dark streets, uniforms brush past evening dresses, and a saxophone note seems to hang in the air long after the band has finished its set.
Tim has an instinctive eye for the human moments tucked between history’s headlines: the shared cigarette, the last dance before duty calls, the quiet pause before the all-clear.
This exhibition is a chance not only to discover Tim Shorten’s distinctive voice, but to connect with paintings that reward us with these living scenes - works that keep telling their stories long after you’ve left the gallery.
Join us on Saturday 18th April for a complimentary glass of bubbly whilst you enjoy this wonderful collection! Tim will be in the gallery from 12-3pm and will be happy to chat and answer questions or just talk about the era.

ANGUS GARDNER
EXHIBITION and MEET THE ARTIST

We first introduced Angus Gardner to the art world in March 2023 - an Independent Artist with a fresh energy for his subject and a new viewpoint which we felt had some good miles to run... three personal appearances and several new releases later and we are delighted to announce that Angus will be back on Saturday 6th June with his latest works and he is already looking forward to seeing old friends and new, so come along and bring some stories and you can swap them with this master raconteur!

DANNY ABRAHAMS
EXHIBITION and MEET THE ARTIST
Saturday 5th December 2026 12-3pm
Since Danny first walked in with an arm full of paintings we have seen him grow from strength to strength, with his easy going, feel good scenes bringing peace and happiness to every home.
It's easy to see where Danny gets his inspiration, harking back to long hot summers of 'playing out' on bikes, and then cold bleak winters where the snow came over the top of your wellies and your snowman took a whole day to build!
Danny recalls those days well and is a master at paintings pieces which take us back to a great day out or a special walk, or a place that you know will always bring you joy.
