Some artists have a wonderful ability to take us back to the happiest moments of our childhood, and Keith Proctor is certainly one of them.

Keith Proctor is a highly regarded artist whose charming, nostalgic paintings celebrate the innocence of childhood, the joy of discovery and those precious little moments that become treasured memories.

A self-taught artist with more than 30 years of painting experience, Keith was encouraged from an early age by his father, Mark Proctor, a talented commercial artist. His father's guidance helped shape Keith's distinctive approach to painting, encouraging expressive mark-making and the freedom to capture the feeling of a moment rather than simply reproducing what he could see.

Inspired by his own childhood adventures and his experiences as a father of four boys, Keith has developed a wonderfully recognisable style. His paintings often feature children exploring the countryside, enjoying simple pleasures and discovering the world around them. With their gentle humour, warmth and beautifully observed body language, his characters have a remarkable ability to stir memories and raise a smile.

Working predominantly in oils, Keith uses confident, expressive brushwork and a carefully considered palette to create paintings filled with atmosphere and emotion. His work reminds us of a time when children played outdoors until the light faded, adventures were found around every corner and life's greatest pleasures were often the simplest.

A Special Connection with The Acorn Gallery

Our friendship with Keith began back in 2010, when we first had the pleasure of showcasing his artwork at The Acorn Gallery, Pocklington. We loved his paintings then, and it's wonderful to have the opportunity to work together again all these years later.

During the intervening years, Keith enjoyed a successful career working with two of the UK's major fine art publishers, Washington Green Fine Art and DeMontfort Fine Art, bringing his distinctive paintings to collectors across the country.

In January 2026, Keith embarked on an exciting new chapter, choosing to return to self-publishing his artwork. This move gives him the freedom to take greater control of his creative journey and share his work directly through selected galleries.

For us, it feels rather like welcoming an old friend home!

We're absolutely delighted to be working with Keith once again and to have the opportunity to introduce his latest artwork to our customers, alongside those who have loved and collected his paintings for many years.
