David Kirkman is a remarkable self-taught abstract artist from Rochford in Essex, whose work radiates energy, emotion and an undeniable sense of honesty. Born in 1985, David creates bold mixed-media pieces that feel wonderfully alive — each one a vibrant conversation between chaos and calm, freedom and focus, joy and quiet reflection.

David is neurodivergent (AuDHD), and he brings this beautifully heightened way of experiencing the world into everything he creates. His thoughts move quickly, his emotions run deep, and his artwork becomes the place where all of that intensity can settle into colour, texture and movement. Working instinctively rather than from a fixed plan, he allows his emotions to guide each mark, creating paintings that feel raw, expressive and refreshingly human.

Having navigated his own challenges with mental health and inner conflict, David’s work carries a thread of courage and compassion. His paintings invite us to embrace the parts of ourselves that are imperfect, unique and utterly real. What begins as a moment of vulnerability becomes something uplifting — a celebration of resilience, individuality and the beauty of being human.
