Collection: Suzanne Cartwright - Original Paintings:-

For Suzanne Cartwright, painting has never been a hobby—it has simply been part of who she is. Long before she could write, she was already drawing and painting, inspired by watching her mother at work. An accomplished fashion designer, her mother had trained under Hardy Amies, the celebrated British couturier to Queen Elizabeth II, surrounding Suzanne with creativity, craftsmanship and an appreciation for beautiful design from her earliest years.
Art also runs deep within Suzanne's family. She is related to the renowned Victorian landscape artist George Vicat Cole RA, and although she has developed a style entirely her own, that artistic heritage has helped nurture a lifelong passion for painting.
Growing up in Yorkshire, Suzanne's earliest artistic success came when she entered the Farmers Weekly Young Artist competition, winning a large tin of watercolour paints. It was a prize that encouraged a passion which has remained with her throughout her life.
Although Suzanne studied fashion and undertook life drawing, she considers herself largely self-taught as a painter. Working from her own reference photography, she has developed a beautifully realistic style that captures not only the detail of a landscape but also its atmosphere, changing light and unmistakable sense of place.
The Yorkshire Dales have always been at the heart of Suzanne's work. From winding country lanes and dry stone walls to weathered barns, tumbling streams and sweeping valleys, she finds endless inspiration in one of Britain's most treasured landscapes. Rather than simply painting what she sees, Suzanne paints how the Dales feel—the quiet stillness of an early morning, the warmth of late afternoon sunlight across the limestone hills and the timeless beauty that has captivated generations.
Her ability to portray Yorkshire with authenticity and warmth has led to several prestigious commissions. Suzanne was commissioned by the World of James Herriot Museum in Thirsk to create a large Yorkshire landscape mural, providing the backdrop to James Herriot's famous car. She has also been commissioned by the Auricula Society to create a series of exclusive original paintings that will be presented annually as awards to society members over the next ten years.
Despite her considerable reputation, Suzanne has spent much of her career painting private commissions for collectors, with very few opportunities for the public to acquire her work. Rather than pursuing gallery representation, she has chosen to focus on creating deeply personal paintings for individual clients.
That makes her partnership with The Acorn Gallery especially significant.
Suzanne has chosen The Acorn Gallery as the first and only gallery to represent her work. We are incredibly proud to introduce her remarkable paintings to a wider audience and to offer collectors a rare opportunity to own an original by an artist whose work has, until now, remained almost exclusively in private collections.
Every Suzanne Cartwright painting reflects a lifetime of observation, patience and genuine affection for the Yorkshire Dales. They are more than beautiful landscapes; they are an invitation to revisit favourite places, remember treasured walks and reconnect with the peace and beauty of Yorkshire's countryside.
Whether you have a lifelong connection with the Dales or simply appreciate exceptional landscape painting, Suzanne's originals possess a warmth, honesty and authenticity that reveal themselves more with every viewing. They are paintings to live with, to enjoy every day, and to treasure for generations.
"At The Acorn Gallery, we believe Suzanne Cartwright is one of Yorkshire's best-kept artistic secrets, and we are delighted to introduce her work to a wider audience for the very first time."
