Christine Cumming Studio

Christine Cummings Artist At The Acorn Gallery, PocklingtonThe Christine Cummings Studio - Original Ceramic Raku Fired Animals:-

Christine Cummings began making Clay animals whilst studying ceramics at Lancashire  Polytechnic. To begin with she focussed on pigs which have always been some of her best loved characters. She spent a lot of time at agricultural shows and loved the rare breeds tent, enjoying the characters of these marvellous creatures.

Over the years Christine widened her scope but pigs remained a constant for her work.

Christine's pieces have always been hand crafted in earth stone clay and are finished either by Raku or smoke firing.

Since Christine's passing, in May 2023, those who worked so closely with her have decided to carry on her name and keep creating her much-loved animals in her very recogniseable style. These new pieces are barely distinguishable from earlier pieces, testament to Christine's close bond with her studio counterparts.
