A captivating celebration of colour, texture and imagination, Magic Tale by Yulia Lisle feels like stepping into a secret garden where nature has been allowed to run gloriously wild.
Layers of thick, expressive paint create a profusion of flowers that seem to emerge from the canvas. Vivid yellows, deep blues, soft pinks and flashes of orange weave amongst lush greens, while the lighter, more delicate tones above give the composition a wonderful sense of space and light.
Yulia’s energetic use of impasto brings extraordinary texture to the piece, with individual marks becoming petals, stems and leaves before dissolving back into abstraction. There is no single place for the eye to settle; instead, the painting encourages you to wander through it, discovering new colours and details along the way.
Joyful, romantic and wonderfully expressive, Magic Tale is an original painting that captures not simply the appearance of a beautiful garden, but the magic of how it feels to be surrounded by one
