The Back Story

‘Beautiful Snow’ is the second limited edition print released for the winter season. Since Mackenzie moved to Richmond in 1989 he has drawn sheep! Square sheep, round sheep, big sheep, small sheep, sheep in the sunshine and sheep in the snow, sheep being herded by a shepherd or sheep leading the way. Everyone knows Mackenzie’s sheep, they are quite simply, part of his artistic legacy.

The Scene

A classic Mackenzie Thorpe image complete with dramatic and uplifting skies. The depth and layering of the rolling clouds draw us into the piece to the shepherd, guiding his flock through the snowy landscape, the bright light of hope lighting their way. The sheep
represent the family and the shepherd, their protector.

The Shape

The landscape format ensures this piece is perfect for alcoves, or above a sofa, or a mantle piece even. Come to think of it, it would also work above a bed or a chest of drawers......in fact it is so versatile in its size, shape and colour palette, we struggle to think of where it wouldn’t work!
