Rob Bishop is an exciting young artist who works in wood. He has taken the word ‘create’ to a whole new level combining modern technology with classic techniques. His work is mixed media consisting of digital art, wood work, painting and drawing.

Rob combines his digital skills with technical ability and using both to create unique imagery built up in layers with many individual digital components.

This imagery is etched on to his ‘canvas’ which is a 12mm maple-veneered board. Rob then begins his labour of love, enhancing, painting and staining the imagery to his taste a technique that has taken a long time to develop

He uses wood stains, acrylics and spray paints which vary in colour throughout the spectrum in order to achieve his desired finish. Each single artwork is created uniquely and for that reason each piece is therefore an Original.

Rob Bishop is also known for his ‘Original Variations’, a term which he uses to describe a series of 10 numbered originals based on the same reference image. The ultimate finish, variation in wood grain, layout, colour and background of each piece will vary. This is why each one of his Original Variations is classed as an original piece of art.
