The artist is someone familiar to society circles having held exhibitions in some of the most prestigious galleries in the world! His residency at The Savoy Hotel London is often spoken of, and the collection of works they commissioned from him still hang, in permanent exhibition in the Thames Foyer. He was given free range to immerse himself in the Hotel’s rich history during his time there, researching the hotel and exploring the archives, using his newfound knowledge to capture a sense of both past and present, and providing a unique perspective on some of The Savoy’s most renowned patrons of the past; including Frank Sinatra, Alfred Hitchcock and Marilyn Monroe.
With some very notable patrons behind him Stuart McAlpine Miller has been able to build a distinguished career with originals selling for tens of thousands of pounds. His commission by Sir Paul McCartney was to paint the piano used throughout his 2004 European Tour and the two worked very closely on an almost daily basis to the singers’ supreme satisfaction.
From humble beginnings, growing up in Glasgow, McAlpine Miller has come a very long way and includes the likes of the BBC, Renault, Virgin and even McVities in his client list!
Many successful exhibitions have been held in cities all around the world, with many commissions by request at every stop. His work has toured London, New York, Italy and Hong Kong.
This latest Collection has been six years in the making and has been done with the complete approval and under the watchful eye of Warner Brothers.
The idea was to create a new series of artworks which interpreted the iconic Harry Potter saga in the artist’s signature style. These would be artworks for those of us who have known and loved the stories from their very beginning, perhaps even now enjoying them again with their own children… these are collectors editions for the big kids in all of us and their creation has given the artist the opportunity to explore some of the darker, deeper themes of the stories.
It adds a certain poetic melody to the series to learn that each was created in the attic studio of a historic Scottish Castle, with its rich heritage adding to the magical mystery around these works.
Each of the eleven images is available in two sizes, and there is also an option to buy these as a beautifully presented boxed set, unframed, and perfect to keep aside for future generations. The carefully curated offering is not only extremely satisfying in its’ presentation but it also offers maximum investability to collectors.
The collection is launched on 14th April with pieces available to order direct through The Acorn Gallery in Pocklington. The artwork itself can be supplied framed or unframed in singles or any combination. A limited number of Boxed Collectors Sets are also available.
