Artist Pete Humphreys starts each painting with the eyes as he feels they are the focal point for the piece, the window to the soul, and his goal for each painting is to convey emotion.

Each piece is very much an extension of the film or story it came from – a character from a Tarantino film will therefore have a different style to a Marvel Comic hero. Equally if the scene is action packed he will paint rapidly and with vigour, whereas a quieter scene, maybe something romantic, may be taken at a slower pace.

Pete studies faces seeking a higher level of understanding, looking for nuances and suggestions of feelings, believing that the more that you study an expression, the more you understand and therefore the better you will know your subject. He firmly believe that this adds an extra layer of not just intensity but also authenticity.
