His name is usually hidden behind some larger than life creations whose on screen presence is hard to ignore! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen he was a child Adrian was always drawing, caricatures were his passion even then!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAt home and at school it’s all he was interested in!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eBy the time he was 10 years old the ‘Spitting Image’ era had arrived on our televisions and so his father wrote to the producers of the programme and asked if they ‘could do anything with him!’\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAn invitation to go down to the studios turned into regular visits and by the time Spitting Image retired from our screens the still young Adrian was well known amongst the crew.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eFast-forward to 2019 and Roger Law was looking at bringing back the brilliant satirical series and he remembered Adrian - so he approached him and Adrian was soon on board! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdrian created 90% of the caricatures for the puppets used in the series and his name is now irrevocably linked with the Spitting Image series! \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdditionally, Adrian Teal is renowned internationally and his distinctive work has appeared across television, publishing, newspapers and in galleries around the world.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdrian’s career began while studying at the University of Bristol, where he was commissioned to create sculptures of the members of the legendary band Madness. Other early commercial clients included UBS, Mercedes-Benz, Barclays, Shell International and the comedy club Jongleurs, before his talents took him into the world of political and celebrity caricature.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eSpitting Image wasn’t the only TV credit to his name. Adrian also worked on the award-winning ITV series Big Heads, where he was Head of 3D Celebrity Caricature Design. He has also worked as a caricature consultant for Framestore and BBC2.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHis work has also featured in some of Britain’s best-known publications, including The Sunday Telegraph, The Times, The Guardian, The Scotsman, Time Out, The Sun and The Daily Mail. He has also produced artwork for the long-running BBC QI franchise, including a cover and illustrated historical features for the QI books, together with merchandise and promotional material.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAlongside his work in illustration and satire, Adrian has increasingly developed his practice as a fine artist, creating highly detailed caricature paintings of some of the world’s most recognisable cultural figures. His subjects have included musicians, actors, writers and other celebrated personalities, with his paintings combining meticulous observation, humour and an extraordinary understanding of likeness.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdrian’s fascination with caricature extends beyond simply exaggerating a face. He studies the character, physicality and personality of his subjects, using exaggeration to reveal something recognisable and often wonderfully humorous about the person behind the public image. His work demonstrates that caricature can be both witty and sophisticated, sitting comfortably between portraiture, illustration and fine art.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAdrian is also an accomplished author and illustrator.
