PRESS RELEASE: Danny Abrahams – An Artists Story
Issued by: The Acorn Gallery, 5 Market Place, Pocklington YO42 2AS

In January 2013 we were contacted by an artist who had found us online and wanted to know if we would be interested in selling his work. He sent us some images by email and we agreed for him to come over with some paintings.

The work was very nicely done and showed a range of subjects including children on bikes, golf tournaments and country scenes painted in a combination of oils and acrylics and very nicely framed. We were sure that the pieces would be very well received by our customers and so we agreed to take some!

That first week we sold four paintings for Danny Abrahams and his success has continued ever since! Now working just in oil Danny has become one of the county’s greatest success stories and his works hang on walls across the UK and beyond!

On Saturday, 15 August we welcome Danny back to the gallery with an exclusive new collection of paintings for his Summer Exhibition! Danny will also be presenting the largest painting he has ever done! Measuring over 1.5m wide it is a stunning piece but will not be revealed until the day!

With original paintings from as little as £395 there is something for everyone and the exhibition is open to all!
Danny will be in attendance from 12 noon to meet and chat with everyone and would be delighted to dedicate any pieces bought on the day.

For any questions please contact Diane at The Acorn Gallery, Pocklington on 01759 307652.

The Art of Inspiration - Held at Fabric Gallery & Interiors, Dunnington

Following our appearance at York Racecourse in March with the York Lifestyle Group, we had a number of people who commented that would be interesting to see furniture and fabrics alongside artwork to see how they could create inspiration for a room...

On the back of these suggestions we held an evening at Fabric Gallery and Interiors in Dunnington to show off several artworks in context with new season fabrics and wallpapers. Customers from both businesses and their guests were invited to enjoy a chilled glass of Prosecco whilst enjoying the various displays.

The evening was an interesting and unusual way forward and customers agreed that their eyes had been opened as to new possibilities!

The latest news is that Paul Horton is about to embark on his 4th tour this Autumn publicising his latest set of new prints entitled:-

Having worked his way up from struggling artist Paul Horton is now a hugely successful contemporary name in art. Having always wanted to be an artist as a youngster, drawing and painting became the cornerstone of his world. He specialised in life drawing and history of art at Bournville School of Art in Birmingham and later combined his love of art with a successful career in the printing industry, finally turning professional and dedicated all of his energy into his art in 1997.

Paul has become renowned for the wonderful array of characters and street scenes that offer universal themes appealing to people of all ages and in all walks of life. He sees this world as a 'celebration of love and hope'; with many of his central characters such as 'Chester and Scruff' and the 'Man of Mystery' becoming icons within his work. Working mainly in pastel he draws and blends to create either a vibrancy of colour or mood within the painting. He has often been described as a modern day Lowry, with many of his street scenes becoming instantly recognisable. Having created so many different characters there is a large narrative element to his work and having become an integral part of his imagery it enables him to not only be the artist, but a storyteller as well.

'Heart & Soul' is my fourth major exhibition of works and marks my tenth anniversary as a professional artist. I thoroughly enjoy visiting galleries and having the opportunity to meet so many of my collectors, sharing with them the many stories that emerge through my paintings. It's an important part of my life to try and find out what people see in my paintings and to gain an insight into how they interpret the many characters and storylines within my work. This not only feeds my imagination but also brings me closer to my collectors. I hope you enjoy my new collection 'Heart & Soul'.
